willa in lit
I was reading today and finally found a character named Willa! i'm not telling you the book, that would be too easy, but it was very satisfying. I've suffered many disses over the years- at one point some characters mocked the name Wilhelmina as incredibly ugly. i dont want it to be too popular, but some recognition is nice

People asked me for years if you were named "Willa" after Willa Cather. You were not. It's just that I thought you needed a very feminine name, one that placed you in the south, and Willa seemed to fit the bill. It suits you. All the others Willas should be proud to share it with you.
ReplyDeletei love my name! its great being unique and fem and southern. whenever i meet someone who knows a Willa they are always very excited- like a waiter whose wife had my name. it was weird reading my name in print though
